Farmers, the physically challenged and people with infectious diseases face constant discrimination, according to a study released in Beijing Monday. About 65% of people polled by the Constitutional Research Institute (CRI) of the Chinese University of Politics and Law said the physically challenged were discriminated against and about 45% thought migrant workers faced similar treatment, state media reported. Among those polled, 63% said people suffering from HIV/AIDS face a similar bias and 55% believe hepatitis B sufferers have to deal with discrimination problems. About 21% of companies recruiting employees have a clear gender requirement while more than half of people polled say workplace discrimination is very serious. "Discrimination based on the place of a person's birth, gender, height, appearance, marital status, education and experience are obvious," said Liu Xu, director of the international department at the Ministry of Labor and Social Security.
