Mine accidents kill 42, 21 missing

A roof collapse at the northern Kangli Gypsum Mine of Shangwang village near Xingtai city, Hebei province, has killed 27 workers, trapped 21 and left another 20 needing hospital treatment, reported state media. The collapse also caused a cave-in at two adjacent mines, the Taihang Mine and the Linwang Mine. The death toll has reached 15 in an earlier mine explosion Sunday at the Taiping Colliery in Shanxi province.
