Misspent funds funneling back

In a report to the 13th session of the 10th National People's Congress Standing Committee, the auditor general reported that RMB 21bn has been recovered, and 700 people punished, since the National Audit Office revealed waste and corruption in China's public sector in July. Xinhua reported that 40 government departments had "rectified their mistakes" and that 80% of RMB 1.42bn in misappropriated funds had been returned. The auditor's report said the General Administration of Sports, which allegedly misused RMB 131m in Olympic funds, had yet to make restitution, according to Xinhua.
