China exported 51.01 million mobile phones in the first five months this year, a 57.7% year-on- year increase, according to China Customs data. The phones were valued at US$4.9 billion, more than double the value of exports for the corresponding period in 2003. China's big phone exporters are still ventures tied to global players Motorola, Siemens, Nokia and Ericsson. Motorola's GSM phones accounted for 26% of total mobile exports, their CDMA phones 62% of the total. Half of total exports went to the US and Germany.
