China will spend Yn11bn on new aid centres and hospitals for infectious diseases to address flaws in the healthcare system revealed during the Sars crisis earlier this year, China Dailysaid.
The new system will take about three years to build and will attempt to redress the imbalance in the current allocation of funds, which means that most disease prevention and control centres are located in cities in the east of the country. In addition, there will be a better system for reporting the incidence of contagious diseases to the centres so that they could issue timely warnings.
