More expatriates working in Shanghai

There were more than 300,000 expatriates working in Shanghai by the middle of 2002, about one-third more than at the same time in 2001, Shanghai Daily News said. The number of foreigners receiving employment certificates in the first half of 2002 was 3,826, an increase of 43 per cent. Foreign experts comprised 80,000 of the total, with 70 per cent of them working as managers of foreign enterprises in the city.
