More loans for Three Gorges

The China Development Bank (CDB) granted RMB 5 billion in additional loans to the Three Gorges Project, bringing the bank’s total loans to the dam project to RMB 35 billion. The CDB offered a loan of RMB 30 billion in 1994 with a credit period of 15 years when the project was first launched.

The Three Gorges Dam Project began in 1993, with an estimated total investment of RMB 180 billion. The world’s largest dam is expected to be completed by 2009.
