China will announce 20 new regulations governing foreign mergers and acquisitions of domestic companies before August 2008, according to Cheng Siwei, vice chairman of the standing committee of the National People's Congress, state media reported. Cheng, speaking at a forum in Beijing, said the regulations will ensure that M&A activity promotes economic growth in China without threatening the country's economic security. Cheng added that future considerations of M&A deals should investigate the fairness of the deal's pricing as well as prospects for the deal to bolster the domestic company's asset growth.
