More transparency urged on IPR

The director-general of the WTO called on China to be more transparent in enforcing rules on intellectual property rights (IPR). However, Supachai Panitchpakdi said that WTO members seemed satisfied with progress made by China in protecting IPR. A legal framework had been established and laws had been passed, though member countries would like to be better informed about
regulations and enforcement. He reminded China that it had agreed to have its trade policies reviewed every year for eight years, with at least 16 committees looking at how it fulfilled its agreements.
