[photopress:Marry5.jpg,full,alignright]Marry5.com, a dating website in China, is MSN’s newest channel partner. It is not known how the two of them initially met. Probably through a dating channel.
The dating channel will be committed to offering one-stop matchmaking services for white-collar singles (a statement which provokes the thought of an army of people in white collars wanting to get married. Someone needs to say that white collars are very last year, ducky.) This is a further extension of what has been called (although never in these pages) MSN’s ‘white collar ecosphere’ in China and reinforces the MSN Chinese website’s brand positioning of ‘fashionable life, white-collar portal.’ (The thought occurs that if one was asked to define ‘fashionable life’ then ‘white-collar’ would not be the image that springs immediately to mind.)
According to the 2006 China Online Social Networking Research Report released by iResearch, China’s online social-networking market reached RMB175 million in 2006, up 169.2% from a year ago.
Marry5.com has six million subscribers and expects the number to grow significantly with this new MSN partnership.
MSN recently also signed agreements with Eastday.com, Hexun.com, Ctrip.com and Yesky.com to jointly develop new digital, IT, stock, travel and picture channels, respectively.
