Construction on the main section of a nuclear power plant will begin soon in the northeastern Chinese port city of Dalian, People's Net reported (in Chinese). The plant is the first to be built in the northeast China, the country's old industrial base, a company official of Liaoning Hongyanhe Nuclear Power said Friday. The Hongyanhe nuclear power station will have six generating units, each with an installed capacity of 1 million kilowatts. Four units will be built in the first phase and go into commercial operation in 2014. The station represents an investment of US$6.6 billion.
