New Buick Excelle

The new Buick Excelle is a compact four-door Buick sedan. In a way it is a rebadged version of the Opel Astra. A new five-door hatchback version of the new baby Buick has also just debuted in China at the Guangzhou Motor Show.

China is Buick’s largest market so the compact Excelle could be made in China and exported to the United States.
Autoblog Green reports the inside of the new car looks very upscale and should be appealing to American consumers. The car could possibly be driven by a hybrid system which would please the conservationists or, alternatively, a  traditional 138 hp 1.8-liter which would be pretty fuel efficient.

Thus, we may end up having a car designed initially in Germany, modified first in the United States, the design modified again in China before being constructed there. And then the final package would be re-exported to its point of origin. Which, perhaps more than any other single example, shows the immense changes happening in the world of automobiles.
