[photopress:MBA_renmingrads_1.jpg,full,alignright]For students in the Central China Normal University there is a new approach. They will be studying, among other things — sexual equality education.
This is part of the program launched by the Hubei Provincial Women’s Federation to promote sexual equality on campus. This is the first time a Chinese college has included sexual equality education as a compulsory course for students.
To start it off Zhou Ping, a sociology professor at Wuhan University, gave a lecture to students on the sexual inequality issue in Hubei. According to Professor Zhou, many female graduates encounter a lot of sexual discrimination when they enter the job market. Female college graduates are also often discriminated against because of their age, gender or pregnancy. This is a first step to remedy that situation.
The illustration is of a splendid group of graduates from Renmin university. Astounding that this attractive and happy picture should have caused a storm of negative comment when it first appeared. But it did. Plainly the new course at Central China Normal University is needed.
