Apple’s next iPad model will launch in the first quarter of 2011, the Chinese-language newspaper Economic Daily News reported. The new model will feature video calling, two cameras, new display and touch technology, and a USB port to connect easily to other devices, it said.
The new iPad 2 will go into production in Taiwan factories this month and will be on sale early next year, the paper said. It said Taiwan‘s Largan Precision will supply camera lenses for the new iPad, while Hon Hai Precision, which operates under the trade name Foxconn, will be responsible for final assembly.
According to the The Christian Science Monitor, the Economic Daily News piece meshes with a similar forecast from Brian Marshall, an analyst with the firm Gleacher and Co. Marshall, citing sources in hardware manufacturing – and the predictable rhythm of Apple’s product-releases – recently estimated an iPad 2 would arrive in stores in the spring of 2011.
