A Japanese new player called Allex (that unattractive word stands for All Express Corporation) will, probably before October, launch an express service to Hong Kong and Shanghai. Which will almost automatically bring a fighting response from the Chinese carriers.
Allex, is a joint venture between All Nippon Airways, which holds 36.4%; Japanese freight forwarders led by Nippon Express and Kintetsu Worldwide Express, hold 30.4% each. Thhe rest is owned by Yusen Air & Sea and MOL Logistics.
All of which will change the balance of power for air freight between China and Japan may mean a lot of jvs between Japanese and Chinese forwarders.
None of the players in this area are in a relaxed state at the moment as Japanese investigators have raided offices of 13 logistics companies, as well as of the Japan Aircargo Forwarders Association, looking for evidence of anti-competitive activities.
