Organizers of the 2008 Beijing Olympics announced that two nongovernmental tenders for the National Tennis Center and the National Field Hockey Center would be open to bids from foreign firms. Both venues are planned to be built near the National Olympic Center in the city's northwest. The approved bidder will manage the two venues and an adjoining sports and entertainment center for a maximum of 30 years after the games. The tennis center is planned to have 16 tennis courts and the hockey center four arenas. Bid documents are scheduled to be released on June 15. Bidding and tendering work are scheduled to close on August 16 and September 15, respectively.
