A regular air cargo service between Pakistan and China has been launched. Sardar Aminullah Khan, Economic Minister at the Embassy of Pakistan in Beijing, said the new air link highlights important aspects of Pakistan-China relations.
"There is big potential for business for the air cargo service especially during the winter season, when the connectivity through land between the two countries remained suspended," the minister said.
Sardar Amin said the present economic policy framework of the Chinese government gives priority to the development of the western regions, including Xingjian, along with substantial investment support.
The Associated Press of Pakistan reports that the plan includes infrastructure development, including the extension of a high-speed train line and other modes of transport and communication.
