New research centers to study e-pollution

The Ministry of Information Industry announced Sunday it will set up three research centers to conduct research on standards, energy saving, product recycling and disposal to protect the environment from biohazards found in electronic products, state media reported. On March 1, China implemented its first green regulations for electronics. It is expected to issue new rules in August requiring businesses to ensure toxic substances do not leak from electronic products. Standards for non-lead soldering are also expected to be issued at the end of the year.
