Newspaper reform still leaves Party in charge of editorial

China's General Administration of Press and Publication Reform said no matter how the private sector might become involved in reorganization of state media, its involvement would be limited to business organization and would not in any way diminish the Communist Party's governance of the media. Commenting on reports of "the first joint venture of press and publication" in Chongqing, a press administration official said accounts were inaccurate because the joint venture was only responsible for the business operation of the newspaper, nothing else.
