After ten years in the making, a major construction project linking Ningbo to nearby Zhoushan Island will open to the public in November. Zhang Jun, director of Zhoushan’s Information Office, said transit time would take one hour.The project cost is approximately RMB11.5 billion and the whole complex comprises five different bridges, crosses to four different islands and two tunnels, and stretches for over 50 kilometers.
The big beneficiary of this new connection will be Ningbo-Zhoushan port which will be extended by the construction of container logistics base Jintang Island.
The project is expected to boost tourism to Zhoushan Island, where visitors have previously been limited to ferries.
The island has already added over 10,000 new parking spaces and constructed 10 new motels.
Examiner.com said the fee for using the bridge will be approximately RMB100.
