China and US announced Monday that they would not consider lifting UN sanctions against North Korea, Bloomberg reported. North Korea claimed earlier this month that its decision to suspend operations at its nuclear facilities should be followed by lifting sanctions against the country. Chinese and American officials declined to speculate on when sanctions might be lifted, only commenting that the current round of restrictions would remain in place for the foreseeable future. The current sanctions ban the import of any material or technology with military applications and any nuclear materials or equipment. North Korean officials expressed disappointment with the refusal, calling on China and the US to "roll back their hostile policies".
