A senior Chinese official said China will cut tariffs on both agricultural and non-agricultural products by 20-30%, Reuters reported, citing state media. Zhang Xiangchen, China’s ambassador to the WTO, said nothing about a time frame for the reduction, and provided no further details. China’s average tariff on agricultural products is currently 15.2%. Before China’s accession to the WTO, its average agricultural tariff was 54%.
