China is advocating a two-track approach including new diplomatic initiatives and a new UN resolution on sanctions to deal with Iran's nuclear development program, AP reported. Amabassador Wang Guangya says he wants "incremental" sanctions against the country, as opposed to tougher sanctions proposed by US, Germany and France. China announced last week that it would back sanctions restricting Iranian banks doing business internationally and prohibiting senior Iranian officials from traveling abroad, but UN diplomats speaking annonomously said China opposes any sanctions affecting trade with Iran and Russia opposes sanctions on Iranian banks.
