A Beijing municipal government official admitted that six workers have been killed during the construction of Olympics venues in the past three years, the Wall Street Journal reported. Ding Zhenkuan, deputy chief of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Work Safety, said two people had died while building the National Stadium, also known as the Bird’s Nest. Ding did not say where the other four deaths occurred., but added that four workers were injured in the past three years. The Beijing Organizing Committee of the Olympic Games earlier denied an allegation in a Sunday Times article that said at least 10 workers had died during construction of the National Stadium.
