Construction will begin next September of China's longest oil pipeline, which will stretch 1,691km from Maoming in Guangdong province to Kunming, capital of Yunnan. Project approval has been given to Sinopec, which is the project investor and China's largest refining company.
The pipeline will cost Yn3.52bn to build and will pass through the provinces of Guangxi and Guizhou. When operational in March 2005, it will contain 19 pumping stations and will have the capacity to pipe 10m tons of processed oil a year.
