A Beijing resident has sued the organizers of the Beijing Olympics for intellectual property rights infringement over the event’s official slogan, "One World, One Dream," the Financial Times reported. The plaintiff, Fang Shouwei, said he had submitted the English-language phrase in 2005 when BOCOG, the games’ organizer, issued an appeal for a new slogan, but was not given a certificate of recognition according to the terms of the contest. BOCOG president Liu Qi denied selecting a single entry from the contest, saying that the slogan "embodies the wisdom of hundreds of thousands of people."
