Google has published the fact that the most searched for term among Mainland Chinese users of Google is "Baidu" – which is Google’s largest rival in China and is, in fact, well ahead of Google.Xie Wen, an internet expert said the fact that Google released the report showed its generosity, and revealed both Baidu’s strong competitiveness and Google’s own flaws in China.
All of this appeared in a report released by Google with the title: “Hottest Words by Chinese Mainland, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan 2009.”
The report also lists search terms by subject. Among stocks, Vanke A share, China Unicom and Ping An were the most searched for. Shanghai Composite Index, fund, exchange rate Growth Enterprise Board, and paper gold were among the top economic search terms. Google users were also curious about the prices of gold, airplane flights, steel and petrol.
China View says the report shows internet companies occupy all of the top ten spots, and three of them are Chinese online video sites.
