Qian Xiaoqian, deputy director of the State Council Information Office, said the Chinese government is fully confident in the future of China’s internet market.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the two-day fourth US-China Industry Internet Forum (UCIIF) which was held earlier this week, Qian stressed that China’s internet market will always remain open and that the Chinese government sincerely welcomes US companies to share the opportunities of China’s booming internet market. But he suggested that this will only work properly if they abide by Chinese law and respect Chinese traditional culture.
English People’s Daily Online reported Qian as saying that the Chinese and US governments should establish a bilateral exchange mechanism under which the two parties should exchange ideas, experiences and practices on issues of mutual concern such as internet policy, law and security.
