Overseas investors could have access to China’s stock index futures trading under guidelines currently being considered by the government, state media reported. According to Zhu Yuchen, general manager of the China Financial Futures Exchange, overseas investors could enter stock index futures trading under the status of Qualified Foreign Institutional Investors (QFII). The China Securities Regulatory Commission approved the launch of stock index futures and margin trading in January and trading accounts were opened on February 22, but the exact date for stock index trading to begin has not been set.
