Party article highlights commitment to reform

A signed article expected to appear today in the Chinese language People's Daily, the voice of China's Communist Party, says China should not swerve from the path of reform started 28 years ago, state media reported. While coinciding with the anniversary of the Tiananmen crackdown, it is not obviously connected to it. "Without reform, China could not make further progress," says the article, signed by "Zhing Xuanli", which is thought to possibly be an alias for the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China. Without discussing political reforms, the article says China should go full steam ahead with reforms to "improve its financial and banking systems, develop all kinds of modern markets, and enhance its external exchanges and cooperation."
