Hong Kong Telecommunications (HKT), operator of telecoms giant PCCW (0008.HKG, TH3B.FRA), has requested a judicial review of the way the region’s regulator has dealt with Apple’s (AAPL.NASDAQ) phone locking policy, South China Morning Post reported. HKT alleges that the Hong Kong Communications Authority failed to investigate its complaint against Apple in violation of competition laws. Apple does not allow iPhone 5 users to use PCCW’s fourth-generation wireless network, although it can connect to those of competitors in the city. If a judicial review is approved, the case would mark the first court review of Apple’s locking policy in Hong Kong.
