Peugeot to export China-made cars to Russia

French carmaker PSA Peugeot Citroen, the second-largest automaker in Europe, plans to export China-made cars to Russia, according to to Gregoire Olivier, PSA Peugeot’s recently appointed head of Asian operations, China Knowledge reports. Peugeot, a long-time partner of China’s Dongfeng Motor, hopes to start selling cars made at its manufacturing venture with Dongfeng Motor in other regions of Asia as well as Russia as early as next year, said Olivier. The automaker is currently building a logistics system in Shanghai which should be operational by 2011. Peugeot will complete construction of its third plant in China at the end of 2010, which will bring its combined annual capacity to 400,000 units. Dongfeng-PSA plans to sell 350,000 vehicles in China this year, 28.7% more than the previous year.
