Pirate vendors face eviction

Beijing's biggest retail markets on Wednesday committed to suspend or evict any tenants that use their stalls to sell fake versions of products from 23 international brands, the Financial Times reported. The move was part of a deal between the brands which included Louis Vuitton, Prada, Adidas and Levis and the landlords. The European Union's trade commissioner, Peter Mandelson, hailed the deal, saying that it will exclude counterfeit goods from Beijing's markets, which are famous for their ample supply of cheap but not quite legitimate merchandise.
