Shenzhen's mayor Yu Youjun has told state media that plans are being drawn up to build a 60km rail link between the city's Yantian port and Huizhou. He said the link would allow the port to expand its coverage area. The city of Shenzhen is already connected to Huizhou by a 72km highway.
An official from Huizhou said his city was unlikely oppose construction of the new railway even though it was building its own deep-water port.
