The idea of the Chinese Industrial Zone is one of the success stories of world industry is widely accepted.
Now, in Karachi the government of Pakistan has prepared a plan to establish ‘China Special Industrial Zone’ in the province of Sindh
The proposed project has been prepared on the special directives of President Asif Ali Zardari, while funding for the scheme will be borne by the federal government.
It is proceeding along the well proven lines of the Chinese industrial zones with the infrastructure including purchasing of land, provision of water supply, electricity and other facilities being set up first.
Sindh Small Industries Corporation (SSIC) of the Sindh Industries Department will be the executing agency of the scheme which is expected to be completed in two years.
The proposed industrial zone will be initiated as a joint venture of China. It will cover an area of 100 acres of land.
The Nation reported that a senior official of the Sindh government observed that proposal for establishing China Special Industrial Zone was the outcome of the recent visits of President Asif Zardari, where he convinced Chinese investors to make investments in Pakistan.
