Police in Shenzhen have detained a dozen people in connection with an illegal landfill that triggered a deadly landslide, Reuters reported, citing state media. Among the 12 is at least one executive from Shenzhen Yixianglong Investment Development, which ran the construction waste dump which overflowed and killed at least seven people, with over 70 more still missing. Meanwhile, district police said in a microblog post that the former director of the urban enforcement bureau for the area – identified by local media as Xu Yuanan – had killed himself; the post added that police had received a report of a person falling from a building late Sunday.
