Some of the next year's Olympic events in Beijing could be rescheduled if pollution exceeds prescribed levels, said International Olympic Committee president Jacques Rogge Thursday. Rogge, speaking at a summit in Beijing on sports and the environment, praised the capital's pollution clean-up efforts, but said that the conditions might not be met "100% on a given day" during the games, the South China Morning Post reported. The UN Environment Program released a report the same day, acknowledging improvements Beijing has made, but criticizing authorities for the lack of carbon-offsetting programs and the underutilization of public transportation.
