China has banned poultry from 14 countries in a bid to fight bird flu, AFP reported. The ban takes immediate effect and will stay in force until the government announces it has been lifted. Beijing has also allocated US$25 million to boost bird flu prevention. Some of the money will be spent on a new headquarters to oversee prevention measures and combat future outbreaks.
