President Hu Jintao concluded his three-day visit to France by presiding over the signing of nine business and research deals between Chinese and French companies.
The deals were primarily in the fields of electronics, nuclear power and car manufacturing and included a US$758 million investment accord between car maker PSA Peugeot Citroen and its Chinese partner Dongfeng to double production at their plant in Wuhan, central China, a spokesman for the French company said.
France said it would send a business delegation to China in June.
Meanwhile, the US State Department said it viewed bans on arms sales to China by the US and EU as complimentary, and did not agree they should be lifted after French President Jacques Chirac called for an end to the EU embargo
The ban was imposed on arms sales after the 1989 Tiananmen Square crackdown.
