China Mobile may report a 23% gain in second-quarter profit, according to the median estimate of six analysts in a Bloomberg survey. The world's largest mobile operator by market value is expected to report that net income rose to US$1.96 billion from US$1.60 billion a year earlier. This comes after the company added 13.1 million users in the second quarter, a record number for three straight months to June. China Mobile gained 25.8 million subscribers in the first six months of the year for a total of 273.8 million, about two-thirds of the nation's mobile-phone users. That is more than the combined total of Vodafone, 186.8 million users, and Docomo, 51.9 million, by the end of last month.
