The
management rights of 93 airports will be transferred to provincial governments this year,
reported Xinhua. Gao Hongfeng. deputy director of the General Administra-tion of Civil
Aviation of China, said the transfer would involve Yn40bn in assets and 50,000 employees.
Airports in Hunan and Qinghai have already been transferred, although Beijing Capital
Airport and airports in Tibet do not feature on the management transferal list.
Gao
said the reform process, which requires the approval of the State Council, is aimed at
preventing the devaluation of state assets and ensuring state
safety.
