Q1 tax revenues up 25%

China announced that national tax revenues for the first quarter of 2004 totaled RMB 627.8 billion (US$75.9bn), increasing by 25% compared to the same period in 2003. The total did not include tariffs or agriculture taxes. State Administration of Taxation officials said economic growth was the main factor behind the increase.
