Ramada develops two hotels in China

Typical Ramada roomRamada is developing two new hotels in the Chongqing municipality: the 255-room Ramada Plaza Dazu and the 250-room Ramada Plaza Hechuan.
Developed under franchise agreements with Chongqing Huadi Wangchao Hotel, the two hotels will mean that Ramada has 36 hotels located in key cities and provinces throughout the country.

Tom Monahan, Wyndham Hotel Group executive vice president of international development, said, "The Ramada brand is currently Wyndham Hotel Group’s second largest brand in China and, as such, plays a vital role in our efforts to expand and gain market share in the country."

Over the past year, the Ramada brand has executed contracts for the development of more than eight hotels and 3,304 rooms in China, including, most recently, the 1,000-room Ramada Hotel and Suites Boao in Hainan Province. Wyndham Hotel Group is currently the world’s largest US-based hotel company in China, with 175 hotels located throughout the country.

Meanwhile, the nine-story Ramada Plaza Dazu is currently under construction and is expected to open in the first quarter of 2010. The hotel will feature 255-rooms, 33 of which will be suites and nearly 1,400 square-meters of meeting space, including a 580 square-meter ballroom, capable of accommodating up to 450 guests, which makes it a MICE hotel.

The nine-story Ramada Plaza Hechuan is expected to break ground by the end of the third quarter this year.
Hotels Magazine reports Ramada Worldwide, a member of the Wyndham Hotel Group family of lodging brands, is a global chain of mid- and upscale hotels.
