China’s largest airline by passenger numbers China Southern Airlines Co. hit record profits in 2017, Reuters reports, topping off a rewarding year for the travel industry.
The company’s annual figures released yesterday showed net profit of RMB 5.91 billion ($941.92 million) in 2017, jumping 17% from 2016 and surpassing the previous record of RMB 5.8 billion seven years ago.
Other Chinese airlines such as Air China and China Eastern Airlines Corp. have felt a similar boost to metrics, largely driven by a weakening dollar.
