Regional group agrees to closer ties

The six members of the Shanghai Co-operation Organisation have agreed to increase security co-operation and closer trade ties. The prime ministers of China, Russia and four central Asian nations have also set the organisation's budget for 2004, which will be used to fund a secretariat in Beijing and an anti-terrorism centre in Uzbekistan.
