The Ministry of Information Industry has asked all China's major mobile and fixed line telecom operators to begin building large-scale pilot 3G mobile networks, beginning in March this year, a report said. According to the Beijing Times, quoting unnamed ministry sources, the networks will be the largest tests to date of 3G mobile systems in China. The paper said that China Mobile, China Unicom, China Telecom, China Netcom, China Railcom (China Tietong) and China Satcom will all participate in the trials.
