Retail sales forecast to rise 10 per cent

China’s retail sales are expected to rise 10 per cent year-on-year in 2002, about the same growth rate as last year, according to a State Economic and Trade Commission forecast reported by China Securities Journal.

The commission said that the government would try to stimulate consumption this year by urging banks to offer more credit, especially for purchases of cars and housing.
