Samsung sets up CDMA venture

Samsung Electronics of South Korea has set up a joint venture with Shanghai Bell to develop and produce CDMA systems for the Chinese market. Samsung has 49 per cent ownership and total investment in the project will be US$29m.

Samsung hopes the joint venture will be able to win orders related to the second phase of the construction of China Unicom’s CDMA network, due to start in 2002.
