SARS case suspected in Beijing

Beijing reported a suspected case of severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) which resulted in the hospitalization of the 20-year-old nurse suspected of being infected with the virus and the quarantine of five people who had been in contact with her and were beginning to show some SARS symptoms. Chinese media reported that a total of 171 people who had been in contact with the woman were under medical observation. It is the first suspected SARS case in Beijing since 2003.
