China's catering industry lost Yn5bn in the first half of the year as a result of the Sars outbreak. Growth in the industry fell to 6.4 per cent, more than 10 percentage points lower than in the same period last year, according to the China Cuisine Association. However, the industry has been recovering since late May and turnover is expected to reach Yn570bn for 2003.
